OUR BELIEFS

Jesus Christ. Through Jesus Christ, God has revealed himself to human beings and given us a picture of who he is and what he is like. Jesus, along with the Father and the Holy Spirit, is God (the Trinity). We believe that Jesus is fully God and fully human. He lived his life in perfect obedience to his Father. He gave his life as a sacrifice and offering on the cross, dying for us and our sins, so that we too might know God as Father.

The Bible We believe the Bible, the Old and New Testaments, is the Word of God. God the Holy Spirit directed and worked through many human beings in creating this book that perfectly expresses what God wants us to know. The Holy Spirit uses this book to enable us to have a living relationship with God. The Bible is the only perfect rule (guide) for how to have a relationship with God, what to believe, and how to live.

Conversion and Salvation We believe that in order for a person to experience eternal life with God, including enjoying life with him right now, it is necessary to be in a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. We must personally accept the free gift offered by God through Christ -- what Jesus called being “born from above.”

The Church We believe that life with God is not a solo concern. Life with God involves us with other people in a community of faith called the Church. The Church is made up of those who know Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord and have experienced new birth in him.

Freedom We believe that God has given us a large measure of freedom in his church. Our faith allows for significant differences of opinion on many different matters not central or essential to our faith. It is the responsibility of each follower of Christ to seek God’s will and to live in consistency with and submission to God’s revealed Word in the Bible.
