What is a Youth Leadership Development Team?
Purpose
The purpose of the YLDT is to help High School students:
1.Recognize their God-given leadership ability
2.Learn about leadership in a Christian context
3.Learn how to cultivate this ability and...
4.Practice leadership in a safe and supportive environment
Who?
The YLDT will be made up of High School students with the God-given/Spiritual gift of leadership.
What?
The YLDT will meet on Wednesday nights, from 5-8pm. The first hour will be a time of learning and development together. This team will then practice leadership by helping lead the Jr. High program, building relationships with the youth and volunteers who participate. This team of youth will be exposed to Biblical models of leadership, general leadership principles, and ways to put their faith into practice through leadership. This team will work closely with the Youth Pastor and other youth staff to schedule, plan, and run events, specifically for the Junior High youth of the church. This team will also have the opportunity to practice these same skills with the Club 56 program, in cooperation with, and under the supervision of the Children's Ministry Director.
Expectations of Members
Members of the YLDT will be expected to attend every Wednesday, from 6-8pm. During this time the group will spend time in Bible study and leadership training, as well as shadow youth leaders in the Junior High program and help lead some aspects of the program. They are also expected to participate in other aspects of the youth ministry program that are geared toward their age group (examples: Innervate, Serving Saturday, Sunday School). The expectation is that as youth ministry staff pour into the youth on the YLDT, those youth then begin using their leadership gifts in up front leadership, behind the scenes leadership, and peer leadership.
Supervisor
The supervisor for the YLDT will be the Youth Pastor.
